SAMARITAN’s HEART is an initiative of Rev. Pastor Josue Octeus for the Community development of underprivileged areas, localities and neighborhoods of Haiti. After 11 years of experiences in child and community development with Compassion International, followed by an specialized training in Community Development and appropriate technologies at SIFAT (Southern Institute for Appropriate Technology, Lineville, Alabama (USA) pastor Octeus feels called by God to promote the community mobilization and development in the very remote and disadvantaged areas of the country. This is the reason why this Christian organization is settled to preach the Gospel of Jesus in a practical ways.
SAMARITAN’s HEART is a non-political Christian organization, seeking to unite local communities for community development and the help disadvantaged children and families. Our activities and projects are aimed toward self-sufficiency.
SAMARITAN’S HEART works with any NGO (non-governmental organization) and all network based associations which are involved in implementation of community development programs in Haiti.
MISSION STATEMENT: Samaritans Heart Ministries' immediate mission is to provide support for education in Haitian communities by providing financial support for qualified teachers. The long term mission is to provide support for education, health care, social programs, and community development for people who are willing to put forth the efforts and desire to become independent.
VISION STATEMENT: Improve neglected communities through education, self-confidence and self-sufficiency.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES SAMARITAN'S HEART has the following objectives: 1. Provide salaries and supplies for teachers. 2. Promote professional training and accountability for teachers. 3. Facilitate community development in Haiti by promoting the building of churches and schools. 4. Facilitate community mobilization in the communities where the supported schools are located. 5. Provide opportunities for a quality Christian education. 6. Improve child development. 7. Contribute to the mental, physical and spiritual well-being of the children and teachers.
